In general, in October 2021 on the secondary market Ukrainians bought 142,904 pieces. passenger cars with mileage. This is the second result of the sale of used cars in 2021. Only 475 cars were missing from last monthʼs record (September 2021).
Compared to the previous month ( September 2021 ), the total market volume decreased minimally — by 0.3%. The share of imports of used cars in the structure of the secondary market increased slightly — from 38% to 41%; the share of domestic resales decreased from 62% to 60%, respectively.
Compared to October 2020, the total market volume increased by 18%. The structure of the market also changed in favor of imports: its share increased from 33% to 41%.
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian secondary car market has not yet felt the significant impact of the global crisis in the automotive industry. Despite the fact that the number of used cars abroad is declining due to declining sales of new ones due to the lack of semiconductors and chips, and prices are rising, the pace of imports of used cars in Ukraine is not falling. In fact, the pace of the secondary market in October 2021 was maintained due to the quantitative growth of imported cars with mileage. This may also be due to the approaching end of preferential customs clearance of the so-called "Eurobills", which has been going on since May this year.
According to experts from the Research Institute of the car market, a decline in sales and imports of cars with mileage is expected in November.
The most popular models, domestic resale
Ukrainiansʼ preferences for buying used cars remain stable. The list of the 10 most popular used cars in the domestic market has not changed dramatically: no model has dropped out of the list. There were only two "rotations" and the number of resales of each model decreased slightly.
The first place is once again occupied by Daewoo Lanos (all modifications of this car, including Sens). In October, Ukrainians bought 3.7 thousand such cars. Compared to September, the models that took second and third place also did not change: Volkswagen Passat (2.8 thousand units) and Skoda Octavia (2.4 thousand units), respectively.
Volkswagen Golf (2 thousand units) regained the lost positions and climbed one step up, taking the honorable 4th place and regaining the August positions. Sales of VAZ 2109/21099 (1.8 thousand units) instead fell to 5th place.
The 9th and 10th places of the top 10 on October also changed places: Skoda Fabia (1.1 thousand units) lost to Opel Astra (1.1 thousand units). The difference in sales of these cars is minimal — only 7 pieces. In all other respects, the rating remained unchanged.

The most popular models imported from abroad
The rating of "freshly imported" cars in October 2021 includes the former so-called "Europlates", the legalization of which has been going on since May. There have also been no major changes in the ranking of the 10 most popular cars with mileage from abroad. The list of top 10 has been unchanged for the third month in a row. Interestingly, the number of cars sold during the month increased in all cases except the Ford Focus.
The main and only change that is worth mentioning is the exchange of positions Audi A6 (1.5 thousand units, +2 positions) with Renault Scenic (1.3 thousand units, −2 positions).

OVERALL RATING OF USED CARS ON THE SECONDARY MARKET
Domestic resales together with imported used cars form the general rating of used cars in Ukraine. It allows you to track the general interest of Ukrainians in specific models of cars with mileage.
The Volkswagen Passat remains the "peopleʼs" car of Ukrainians for the third year in a row. As many as 6.7 thousand such models were purchased in October. However, in the October rating, compared to September, there were interesting changes.
Volkswagen Golf (5.1 thousand units) rose from third to second place, and Skoda Octavia (5,000 units) fell from second to third. Skoda Fabia (2.3 thousand units) dropped to two positions — from 8 to 10.
VAZ 2109/21099 dropped out of the rating completely. Instead of it, at the same time at once on 8 positions, there was Audi A6 (2,3 thousand pieces). In ninth place was the Opel Zafira (2.1 thousand units). Since these models are one of the most popular among the so-called "Eurobills", we can assume that the emergence and growth of their positions in the ranking may be associated with a wave of legalization of foreign-registered cars. Ukrainians who have registered cars at discounted rates are putting them up for sale en masse.
