Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in February and identified the Top models in three segments of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons (except tractor-trailers) : used import, domestic resale and purchase of new cars, including those converted in Ukraine .
Truck market dynamics
In February, Ukrainian carriers purchased a total of 2.7 thousand trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons. This is 60.5% more than in the same period last year, and 15.1% more than in January 2024. After a slight "slump" at the beginning of the year, demand for trucks has returned to the average volumes recorded over the past seven months.
The majority of trucks were purchased on the domestic market: 82.2% (2.2 thousand units). Used 8.2% of trucks (219 units) were brought from abroad.
Last month, 36 imported and 121 manufactured (or converted) trucks were purchased in Ukraine, a total of 157 trucks, a share of 9.6%.
The most popular trucks in the domestic market
Dump trucks (638 units), vans (410 units), flatbed trucks (234 units), flatbed trucks (120 units), and cargo platforms (118 units) remain the most popular in the domestic market.
According to the results of last month, the most frequently bought Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (103 units), Mercedes-Benz Atego (91 units), KamAZ-5320 (87 units), KamAZ-5511 (74 units), and Mercedes-Benz Vario ( 71 pcs.).

Ten of the 20 most popular trucks remain on this list as models of the Russian-Soviet automobile industry. At the same time, the average age of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons sold on the domestic market in February 2024 was 21.9 years. The scale of calculating the excise tax, which multiplies it by 40 or 50 times when a truck exceeds 5 or 8 years of age, respectively, deters Ukrainian businesses that need such transport from its mass import. This, in turn, does not make it possible to update the fleet with vehicles available to local buyers, even those that meet the Euro-5 environmental standard.
The most popular used trucks are imported from abroad
The most frequently imported from abroad in February were vans with hydroboards (44 units), refrigerated vans with hydroboards (34 units), container trucks (24 units), vans (23 units), and refrigerated vans (20 units). ).
Among individual models of trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons, the largest (and at the same time equal) number of 30 vehicles in the Ukrainian fleet was replenished by Mercedes-Benz Atego, MAN TGL and Iveco Daily.

The most popular new truck was the Renault Master, bought in the amount of 28 units. Mercedes-Benz Sprinter takes second place in terms of volume, with a total of 21 units.
Third on the list, with a result of 15 cars, Isuzu AB5101, in fourth position — Scania P-Series (13 units).
Fifth place in Iveco Daily, 10 of which were bought.
