The demand for semi-trailers for "fours" continued to fall in December. Which brands of semi-trailers were bought more often?

Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in December and identified the top brands in three segments of semi-trailers: import of used, domestic resale and purchase of new ones.

Dynamics of the semi-trailer market

Again following the segment of semi-trailer trucks, market activity in the semi-trailer segment decreased in December. During the month, Ukrainians purchased 2,100 new and used semi-trailers. It   by a significant 39.2% less than in the same period last year in 2022, and by 21.4% less than in November 2023.

According to the results of December, 56.4% of all semi-trailers were bought on the domestic market (1.2 thousand deals). 798 used semi-trailers were brought from abroad, which was 37.4% of the total number.

6.2% of semi-trailers were purchased new(133 pcs.). Of this number, 28 were produced in Ukraine, and the remaining 105 units. were imported new from abroad.

The most popular semi-trailers on the domestic market

The highest demand was observed on the domestic market in December for tipper semi-trailers. 21%, or 253 units, bought these. quantitatively Also, container carriers ( 13.9%, 167 units) and flatbed semi-trailers ( 12.1%, 145 units) do not lose their popularity.

Flatbed semi-trailers also made it to the Top 5( 9.3%, 112 units) and refrigerators (108 units, 9% ).

Among manufacturers, the German Shmitz remains the leader of the domestic semi-trailer market. Among all semi-trailers, they were 20.5% (247 units).

The second and third places were also taken by German brands — Krone (140 units, 11.6% ) and Koegel (125 units, 10.4% ), respectively.

Austrian Schwarzmuller is in fourth place (67 units, 5.6% ), and Wielton is in fifth place (36 units, 3% ).

The most popular used semi-trailers brought from abroad

During December 2023, the most frequently imported from abroad were awning semi-trailers( 31.8%, 254 pcs.), awning platforms ( 13.2%, 105 pcs.), and container carriers ( 12.7%, 101 pcs.).

Dump trucks ( 12%, 96 units) and refrigerators ( 11.7%, 93 units) were also among the five most popular by type.

The first in the list of the most popular used semi-trailers brought from abroad was the Shmitz brand. Its share increased again and amounted to 37.3% (298 units).

Second place was taken by Krone products (111 units, 13.9% ). Koegel was in third place (91 units, 1 1.4% ), Schwarzmueller was in fourth place (31 units, 3.9% ).

Rounding out the top five is Magyar (15 units, 1.9% ).

The most popular new semi-trailers

The majority of all new semi-trailers bought in December are tipper semi- trailers (48 units, 36.1% ). Another 14.3% in this segment of the market was occupied by awning semi-trailers (19 pcs.).

The third place with a share of 12.8% (17 units) was taken by tanks, the fourth - tanks for dangerous goods (14 units, 10.5% ). Refrigerators were also bought (9 units, 6.8% ).

The ranking of manufacturers of new semi-trailers will continue to be headed by the German Shmitz ( 30.8%, 41 units), again increasing its share, although reducing its quantitative presence. Wielton took second place (18 units, 13.5% ), Everlast took third place (15 units, 11.3% ), Van Hool products took fourth place (10 units, 7.5% )

Closes the first five Mega with a total of 6.8% and 9 semi-trailers.
