What small commercial equipment did you buy in December? Top new and used models

Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine in December and identified the 20 most popular models of small commercial vehicles in three segments: used import, domestic resale, and new car purchases.

LCV market dynamics

In December, Ukrainians purchased a total of 5,700 light commercial vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons. This is 32.6% more than in the same period last year, and 3.3% more than in November 2023.

The majority of small commercial cars were usually purchased on the domestic market — almost 4,000 (70%). 1,000 used LCVs (18.1%) were brought from abroad.

679 new imported LCVs were registered, of which 180 were converted Ukrainian enterprises from imported chassis or machine sets. In total, new LCV sales accounted for 12% of the total number of small commercial vehicles purchased.

The most popular LCVs in the domestic market

The largest demand on the domestic market remains for used vans (2.8 thousand units). Other types are in the minority, including cargo-passenger (201 units), flatbed (167 units), low-tonnage vans (144 units), and side-mounted awnings (135 units).

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (560 units) has held the unchanging leadership in the domestic market for many years in a row. The chassis of this car is used for various superstructures, as well as being converted for various needs of small and medium-sized businesses, including being used as special equipment. Renault Master is in second place (337 units), Ford Transit is third with 309 sales agreements, GAZ-3302 "Gazelle" is in fourth place (257 units)

Rounding out the top five is the Volkswagen Transporter (207 units).

The most popular used LCVs imported from abroad

From abroad, used vans (763 units), side-mounted awnings (72 units), refrigerated vans (42 units), platforms (38 units) were most often brought from abroad.and vans with hydroboard (28 pcs.).

Renault Master became the leader among imported used LCVs in terms of the number of first registrations of such vehicles with the result of 239 first registrations. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which added 227 vehicles to our fleet, lags behind him by just a few "matched" cars. Further, the quantitative gap is much larger: the third place was shared by Volkswagen Crafter and Renault Trafic, which have the same result — 69 cars each. The fourth Renault Kangoo (58 units), the fifth in number — Opel Movano (50 units).

The most popular new LCVs

Vans remain the most popular among new small commercial vehicles (330 units), all other types can be considered single cases, sold in quantities of less than 10 vehicles. Here is their number: emergency and repair vehicles (7 units), operational vans (5 units), cargo-passenger units (5 units), on-board units (5 units).

Renault Master became the leader of the new LCV segment in December. 70 such models with zero mileage were registered for the first time. The second position in this list belongs to Renault Express with a result of 58 units. Third — Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (21 units), fourth — Fiat Doblo (20 units).

Rounding out the top five is the Volkswagen Crafter, 19 of which were bought.
