Motorcycle market: what did Ukrainians buy in November?

Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of motorcycle registrations in November and identified the most popular models in three segments: import of used, domestic resale and purchase of new motorcycles.

Dynamics of the motorcycle market

Due to seasonality, the demand for motorcycle equipment is decreasing — as illustrated by the diagram with the dynamics of trading in this market segment. However, despite the onset of cold and rainy weather in November, the motorcycle market still grew compared to the same period last year. At the same time, it should be noted that the following numbers are obtained only from the accounting of official sales agreements and first registrations. The "shadow" part of the motorcycle market (in particular, the secondary one) remains outside the scope of this review. According to IDA experts, it can be quite significant — even equal to, or even greater than, the official part.

Now about the numbers: in November, Ukrainians bought 3.2 thousand of all motorcycles. This is 32% more than in the same period last year, and 27.7% less than in October 2023.

Among the total number , 53.8% of motorcycles were new (imported from abroad), in quantity, this is 1.7 thousand pieces. The motor vehicle segment remains the only one on the Ukrainian car market, where the majority of deals are sales of new vehicles.

1,100 contracts for the purchase and sale of motorcycle equipment were concluded on the domestic market, which accounted for 34% of the total number.

Only 11.2% of motorcycles were imported used from abroad (354 units).

The average age of motorcycles on the market (as of November) was 14 years for those resold domestically and 13.3 years for motorcycles submitted for first registration after customs clearance.

The most popular motorcycles in the domestic market

In the domestic market, the Japanese brands Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki prevailed among motorcycle manufacturers in the specified period.

Among individual models, Lifan of the LF series (48 units) is still the most popular. Honda CB is in second place (34 units), KMZ "Dnipro" is in third place (32 units).

The most popular used motorcycles brought from abroad

In the import segment, there were again not enough manufacturers to make up the classic twenty most popular. After all, it is quite logical — seasonality is indicated. In general, imports in the "moto" segment continue to be held by such brands as Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki.

Among individual models, Honda CB (17 units), Suzuki Address (10 units) and Kawasaki Ninja (10 units) were most often submitted for first state registration.

The most popular new motorcycles

New motorcycles of Chinese manufacturers are mainly bought in Ukraine: in November, the brands Spark, Musstang and Lifan became the leaders. The products of these three brands occupied almost half of the market with a combined share of 44.6%.

Among the models, Spark SP-series won the championship (286 units), Musstang MT (238 units) took second place, Lifan LF (160 units) took third place.
