What buses did you buy in November? Top 20 new and used models

Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in November and identified the most popular models in three segments of buses: import of used, domestic resale and purchase of new ones.

Bus market dynamics

In November 2023, Ukrainian carriers purchased 835 new and used buses. This number is 50.9% more than in the same period last year, and also a slight 0.1% less than in October 2023: the difference was only 1 bus. The peak sales figures for the last 12 months remained in August, then the demand for this type of passenger transport decreased somewhat.

Most of the buses were bought on the domestic market : 581 units, which accounted for 69.7% of the total number.

12.5% of the total number of used buses were brought from abroad : 104 units.

Also last month, 148 new buses were registered for the first time: 129 of them were manufactured or converted in Ukraine ( 12.7% ), 19 pcs. arrived from abroad ( 1.6% ).

The most popular buses on the domestic market

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter- based buses (119 units) remain the leader in domestic resales. A significant part of these vehicles was converted into passenger buses from trucks at one time.

Buses based on Mercedes Benz T1 and T2 (71 units in total), which have not been produced since the mid-90s of the last century, are also consistently in second place. This item also includes goods vehicles that were once converted into buses.

In third place is "Etalon" A079 (49 pcs.), in fourth position is a similar class car " Bohdan" A-092.

Rounding out the top five is another old representative of the Volkswagen LT family of "beads" (36 units).

In general, the majority of buses in the domestic market are of small and medium capacity.

The average age of buses sold on the domestic market in November is 18.2 years, which is 0.4 years less than in November 2022. However, such a change definitely does not indicate the "rejuvenation" of the bus market in Ukraine, rather it is about minor, quite typical for "secondary" fluctuations of this indicator within small limits.

The most popular used buses brought from abroad

Due to a large number of legislative restrictions, few buses are brought from abroad today. Such vehicles are subject to the limitation of the ecological standard no lower than "Euro-5", and the amount of excise tax is 50 times greater for buses over 8 years old, which makes their import economically unprofitable.

In November, used buses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (24 units), several similar Volkswagen Crafter (8 units), and the same number of three-axle double-decker Van Hool Astromega tourist class buses were most often brought from abroad.

The average age of used buses brought from abroad was 11.2 years, which is less than last month (12.0 years) and less than exactly a year ago (12.5 years).

The most popular new buses

Most of the new buses that Ukrainians registered for the first time in November 2023 are products of Ukrainian enterprises: 8 out of 10 models were manufactured or converted new in factory conditions in Ukraine. The first place was taken by " Bohdan" A-093 (40 units), the second — "Etalon" A-081 (32 units), the third — ZAZ A08 (24 units)

Also in the top five were SCS FT-M8 (built on the basis of Ford Transit) with the number of 20 first registrations, and, actually, Ford Transit itself (16 units).
