What truck tractors do Ukrainian carriers choose? Results of November

Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine during November and identified the top models in three segments of semi-trailer trucks: import of used vehicles, domestic resale and purchase of new ones.

Dynamics of the truck tractor market

In November, Ukrainians bought 2,400 new and used truck tractors. This is 34.4% less than in the same period of last year 2022, and 7.5% less than in October 2023.

The share of domestic sales and import of used truck tractors turned out to be absolutely equal this time: 50/50, and with a similar number of machines — 1125 units each. for each of the segments. The total share of "trucks" with mileage was 92%.

8% of truck tractors were purchased new, which in quantitative terms equals 194 units.

The diagram shows that during 2023 the demand for semi-trailer trucks gradually decreased. In general, November set an anti-record — the lowest trading volume in this segment since the beginning of the year. One of the factors that explains this trend is the satisfaction of transportersʼ needs in vehicles, which were in short supply even a year ago, because after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, the main transport for the export-import of goods became the automobile. However, we should probably continue to expect a decrease in demand for both tractor-trailers and semi-trailers for them, since we have a second factor: the business of Ukrainian carriers was quite noticeably "skewed" by the blockade by the so-called "activists" of the Ukrainian-Polish border, where for several weeks in more than 2,000 of our "trucks" are waiting in line. So some of them are obviously not ready to expand their fleet with cars adapted for international transportation just now.

The most popular tractors on the domestic market

DAF XF confidently remains the most popular tractor unit on the domestic market in Ukraine. 306 contracts for the sale of such models were concluded. Renault Magnum (130 units) took second place. Third place went to MAN TGX (127 units). In addition to these models, Volvo FH (121 units) and Renault Premium (87 units) also entered the top five tractors with the highest demand.

In November, DAF XF won the championship (302 units), which displaced MAN TGX (295 units), the leader of previous periods, to the second position.

Volvo FH is in third place (149 units), Scania R-Series is in fourth place (79 units). Rounding out the top five are Mercedes-Benz Actros (68 units).
