What buses did you buy in October? Top 20 new and used models

Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in October and identified the most popular models in three segments of buses: import of used, domestic resale and purchase of new ones.

Bus market dynamics

In October 2023, Ukrainians purchased 834 new and used buses. This indicator is 57.1% higher than in the same period last year, and also 3.7% higher than in September 2023. Sales figures remained at their peak for the past 12 months in August, then the demand for passenger commercial transport decreased somewhat.

Most of the buses were bought on the domestic market : 601 units, which accounted for 72.1% of the total number.

13.7% of the total number of used buses were brought from abroad : 114 units.

Also, in October, 127 new buses were registered for the first time: 106 of them were manufactured or converted in Ukraine ( 12.7% ), 13 pcs. arrived from abroad ( 1.6% ).

The most popular buses on the domestic market

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter- based buses (129 units) remain the leader in domestic resales. A significant part of these vehicles was converted into passenger buses from trucks at one time.

Buses based on Mercedes Benz T1 and T2 (84 units in total), which have not been produced since the mid-90s of the last century, are also consistently in second place. This item also includes goods vehicles that were once converted into buses.

In third place is BAZ/CHAZ A079 "Etalon" (56 units), the fourth position is in "classmate" MB Sprinter — Volkswagen LT (36 units).

Rounding out the top five is another Ukrainian product — Bohdan A092 (25 pcs.).

In general, the majority of buses in the domestic market are of small and medium capacity.

The average age of buses sold on the domestic market in October continues to be 18.6 years, which is 0.6 years more than in October 2022. The bus market in Ukraine is aging, primarily due to low purchasing power and lack of financing programs for the purchase of new rolling stock. Instead, the import of used buses is limited by law.

The most popular used buses brought from abroad

Due to a large number of legislative restrictions, few buses are brought from abroad today. Such vehicles are subject to the limitation of the ecological standard no lower than "Euro-5", and the amount of excise tax is 50 times greater for buses over 8 years old, which makes their import economically unprofitable.

In October, used buses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (12 units), several Mercedes-Benz city buses of the Citaro family (11 units), and 8 units were most frequently imported from abroad. Volkswagen Crafter.

The average age of used buses imported from abroad was 12 years, which is half a year more than last month and almost 2 years more than in October 2022.

The most popular new buses

Most of the new buses that Ukrainians registered for the first time in October 2023 are products of Ukrainian enterprises: 6 out of 10 models were manufactured or converted in Ukraine. The first place was taken by BAZ-A081 "Etalon" (37 units), the second — Bohdan/Ataman A-093 (33 units), the third — ZAZ A08 (18 units)

An earlier modification of "Bohdan" with index A-092 (16 pcs.) and Ford Transit (7 pcs.) also made it into the top five.
