What are the priorities in the choice of truck tractors for Ukrainian truckers?

Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine during October and identified the top models in three segments of truck tractors: import of used vehicles, domestic resale and purchase of new ones.

Dynamics of the truck tractor market

In October, Ukrainians bought 2,600 new and used truck tractors. This is 36.6% less than in the same period last year in 2022, and 3.7% less than in September 2023.

The share of domestic sales, as in previous months, is almost half ( 47%, 1.2 thousand ) of all tractors purchased during the last month.

1,200 used ones were brought from abroad, which accounted for 46.5%.

6.5% of truck tractors were purchased new, which in quantitative terms equals 172 units.

The most popular tractors on the domestic market

DAF XF remains the most popular tractor unit on the domestic market in Ukraine. 330 contracts for the sale of such models were concluded. Volvo FH took second place (153 units). Third place went to MAN TGX (140 units). In addition to these models, the top five tractors with the highest demand also included two models from Renault — Magnum (133 pcs.)and Premium (93 units).

The most popular used tractors brought from abroad

In October, as for many months in a row, used MAN TGXs (356 units) were most often brought from abroad.

DAF XF is traditionally in second place (300 units), and Volvo FH is in third place (176 units). The fourth step is Scania R-Series (88 units), and the top five is Mercedes-Benz Actros (86 units).

The most popular new tractors

Among manufacturers of semi-trailer trucks, Volvo became the most popular in October (49 units, 33.1%). Second place in Scania (44 units, 29.7%)the third — in DAF (20 units, 13.5%).

Of the individual models, the Volvo FH (45 units) was most often purchased. In second place is Scania R-Series (43 units), in third place is MAN TGX (40 units).

DAF XF is in fourth place (13 units), and Mercedes-Benz Actros (11 units) is fifth.
