Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine in September and identified the 20 most popular models of small commercial vehicles in three segments: used import, domestic resale, and new car purchases. After the peak of sales in August, the September figures turned out to be somewhat more modest.
LCV market dynamics
In September, Ukrainians purchased 5,600 light commercial vehicles with a gross weight of up to 3.5 tons. This is 21.7% more than in the same period last year, and 5.1% more than in August 2023.
The majority of small commercial cars were purchased on the domestic market in July: 4.1 thousand (73.2%). 1,032 used LCVs were imported from abroad (18.6%), which was the highest monthly figure since July 2022.
422 new imported LCVs were registered, another 37 registered light trucks were converted by Ukrainian enterprises from imported chassis or machine sets. Overall, new LCV sales accounted for 8.2% of the total number of small commercial vehicles purchased.
The most popular LCVs in the domestic market
Used vans (2.9 thousand units), cargo-passenger vans (200 units), side-mounted awnings (176 units), side-mounted vans (164 units), and low-tonnage vans (150 units) were most in demand on the domestic market.
For many years in a row , Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (589 units in June) has held the unchanging leadership in the domestic market. The chassis of this car is used for various superstructures, as well as being converted for various needs of small and medium-sized businesses, including being used as special equipment. Renault Master took second place (370 units), and Ford Transit took third place (290 units). Russian GAZ 3302 "Gazelle" dropped from second to fourth place in September with 287 sales deals.
Rounding out the top five is the Volkswagen Transporter (239 units).

The most popular used LCVs imported from abroad
From abroad, used vans (762 units), side-mounted awnings (77 units), refrigerated vans (72 units), hydraulic vans (36 units) and platforms (25 units) were most often brought from abroad.
Renault Master remains the leader of imported used LCVs (322 units), Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is in second place (197 units), and Volkswagen Crafter is in third place (74 units).
Renault Kangoo (73 units) and Renault Traffic (72 units) also made it to the top five models of small commercial vehicles in September.

The most popular new LCVs
Among the new small commercial vehicles, the most popular were vans (309 units), refrigerated vans (14 units), on-board vans with a double cabin (14 units), emergency repair vehicles (6 units), as well as grain vans (2 units). .
Renault Express became the leader of the segment of new LCVs in September. 75 such models were registered for the first time.
Volkswagen Crafter (22 units) took second place. The same number of Fiat Ducato (22 pcs.) and Renault Master (22 pcs.) models were registered.
