Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in July 2023, described the market dynamics and identified the 15 most popular new passenger cars of the month.
Dynamics of the new car market
In July, Ukrainians purchased 5,200 new cars. This is 40.5% more than in July 2022 and 8.8% less than in June 2023. Sales have been falling for the second month in a row.
In total, from January to July 2023, Ukrainians registered 33,900 new cars for the first time, which is 54.1% more than in the same period of 2022.
Most new cars in July ( 88.6%, 4,638 units) were imported from abroad. The share of passenger cars manufactured in Ukraine using the large-node assembly method was 11.4% (594 units).
The largest number of new cars were registered last month in the city of Kyiv (1,926 units) and the Kyiv region (532 units) — together, this is almost half ( 47% ) of the total number of new cars registered for the first time in July. They were also actively registered in Dnipropetrovsk (385), Odesa (333) and Lviv (299) regions.
The fewest new cars were first registered in Kherson (4), Luhansk (8) , Donetsk (16) , Volyn (48) and Sumy (55).regions
The majority of cars were purchased by individuals ( 67.8%, 3,546 units), the remaining 32.2% (1,686 units) — legal entities (firms and state structures).
The most popular new imported cars
Most often, in July, as in the previous month, when buying a new passenger car, Ukrainians chose Toyota (827 units, 15.8%). The second place was taken by the Volkswagen brand (524 units, 10%).
The Renault brand was in third place (494 units, 9.4%), and Skoda was in fourth place (383 units, 7.3%). Rounding out the top five is BMW (362 units, 6.9%).
Among the models in the seventh month of 2023 , Renault Duster remains the best-selling model (409 units). Toyota RAV-4 took second place (361 units). The third step was taken by the electric Volkswagen ID.4 (202 units).
The fourth place according to the results of July went to Skoda Kodiaq (142 units). Rounding out the top five is the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (136 units).
At the same time, the trend towards crossovers will continue to persist on the market: the majority of them in the top 15 will continue to be 11 civilian and two police vehicles.

Among the new cars converted in Ukraine and registered in July, the most popular was the Skoda Kodiaq (141 units), which is manufactured at the Transcarpathian factory "Evrocar" using the method of large-unit assembly, as well as the police Renault Duster (112 units) and the Skoda Karoq (90 units). .). The SKS company is engaged in the conversion of the latter.
