Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in June and identified the top models in three segments of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons (except tractor-trailers): used import, domestic resale and purchase of new cars, including those converted in Ukraine. Activity increased by almost a quarter.
Truck market dynamics
In June, Ukrainians purchased 2,700 trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons (excluding tractors). This is 22.7% more than in the same period last year, and by the same amount more than in May 2023.
Most of the trucks in April were purchased on the domestic market: 85.1% (2.3 thousand units). Used 8.1% of trucks (218 units) were brought from abroad.
More new trucks were purchased in June: 43 imported and 138 converted in Ukraine (total 151 units, 6.8% ).
The most popular trucks in the domestic market
In June, dump trucks (708 pcs.), vans (453 pcs.), flatbed trucks (235 pcs.), platforms (100 pcs.) and side-mounted awnings (99 pcs.) were most in demand on the domestic market.
For many months in a row, trucks based on Mercedes-Benz T1/T2 remain the leader of domestic resales. In June, an agreement was reached regarding these158 purchase and sale agreements. Despite the fact that these models were discontinued more than 20 years ago, Ukrainians actively buy them, primarily due to the difficult economic situation and the inability to purchase a newer car.
In second place was the Soviet-Russian KamAZ 5320 (96 units). The third step was occupied by the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (90 deals), which is also used as a platform for various cargo superstructures.
Fourth place was taken by Mercedes-Benz Atego (76 deals), and KamAZ 5511 (75 deals) rounds out the top 5 most popular trucks in June.

It is noteworthy that 10 of the 20 most popular trucks were models of the Russian-Soviet automobile industry. At the same time, the average age of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons sold on the domestic market in June 2023 was 24.7 years — a year more than last month. That is, the truck market continues to age.
The most popular used trucks brought from abroad
Vans with hydroboards (52 units), vans (29 units) and refrigerated vans (19 units) were most often brought from abroad in April. Container carriers (18 units) and refrigerated vans with hydroboards (16 units) were also popular. pc.).
In June, the used Mercedes-Benz Atego returned to the place of the leader in the segment of imported used trucks with a total weight of more than 3.5 tons — 31 of them were brought. The second place was taken by MAN TGL (25 units), the same number of used Mercedes-Benz Sprinters were imported.
Fourth place was taken by Iveco Daily (19 units), and fifth place by MAN TGX (10 units).

New cargo vans (26 units), dump trucks (7 units) and container trucks (4 units) were registered for the first time among new imported trucks in June. Also, for the first time, 4 imported container carriers, 2 hydraulic vans and 2 flatbed trucks received license plates.
The most popular new truck in June was the Volkswagen Crafter (15 units). The second place was taken by Renault Master (6 pcs.), and the third place by Scania G-Series (6 pcs.).

Vans (58 units), garbage trucks (15 units) and dump trucks ( 12 units) were the most popular among converted trucks in Ukraine weighing more than 3.5 tons in June. On-board awnings (8 pcs.) and sewage tanks (6 pcs.) were also popular.
The leaders were Reform 0201022G (van based on Citroen Jumper, 17 units), Reform 0405032G (20 units), and SKS MNTGS33.480-14CC (van based on dump truck based on MAN TGS, 10 units).
