Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in June 2023, described the market dynamics and identified the 15 most popular new passenger cars of the month.
Dynamics of the new car market
In June, Ukrainians purchased 5,700 new cars. This is 47.4% more than in June 2022 and 1.7% less than in May 2023.
In total, from January to June 2023, Ukrainians registered 28,600 new cars for the first time, which is 55.4% more than in the same period of 2022.
Most new cars in June ( 91%, 5,173 units) were imported from abroad. The share of passenger cars manufactured in Ukraine using the large-unit assembly method was 9% (514 units).
The largest number of new cars were registered last month in the city of Kyiv (2,005 units) and the Kyiv region (695 units) — together, this is almost half ( 47.5% ) of the total number of new cars registered for the first time in June. They were also actively registered in Dnipropetrovsk (495), Odesa (364) and Lviv (342) regions.
The fewest new cars were registered for the first time in Luhansk (9 units) , Donetsk (18 units) , Chernivtsi (40 units), Chernihiv (53 units) and Volynsk (55 units).regions
The most popular new imported cars
Most often, in June, as in the previous month, when buying a new passenger car, Ukrainians chose Toyota (899 units, 15.8%). The second place was taken by the Volkswagen brand (531 units, 9.3%).
The Renault brand fell to third place (512 units, 9%), and Skoda was in fourth place (341 units, 6%). Rounding out the top five is Hyundai (337 units, 5.9%).
Among the models in the sixth month of 2023 , Renault Duster remains the best-selling model (413 units). Toyota RAV-4 took second place (314 units). The third step was taken by the electric Volkswagen ID.4 (199 units).
The fourth place according to the results of June went to the Mazda CX-5 (176 units). Rounding out the top five is the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (155 units).
At the same time, the trend towards crossovers will continue on the market: the majority of them in the top 15 will be 12 civilians and one police Renault Duster.

Among the new passenger cars converted in Ukraine and registered in June, the police Renault Duster (151 units), as well as the civilian Skoda Kodiaq (88 units) and Skoda Karoq (61 units), were the most popular. They are manufactured at the Evrocar plant in Transcarpathia by the method of large-node assembly.
