Used cars are becoming more expensive in Ukraine. On which models the price has increased the most?

In April, the price of used cars in Ukraine rose. The changes affected almost all popular models on the market. The Automoto.ua aggregator collects ads for the sale of all cars from 100 auto sites in Ukraine. Based on these data, the experts of the Institute of Car Market Research determined the price picture of online sales of used cars in Ukraine.

During April 2023, Ukrainians posted 218,400 ads for the sale of cars on the Internet. This is 15% less than in March. Thus, after four months of growth, activity in online car sales decreased to the level of December-2022.

Simultaneously, the total value of cars placed in advertisements decreased: in April, it was recorded at the level of $1.85 billion, which is $0.22 billion less than in March.

By the end of April, the largest number of advertisements were traditionally placed in the Kyiv region and the city of Kyiv (a total of 38,300), Lviv (19,200) and Dnipropetrovsk (17,500) regions. The least — in Kherson (less than 1,000), Luhansk (1,500) and Kirovohrad (4,300) regions.

The cheapest (by average cost) cars were in Kherson ($3,200), Donetsk ($3,399), and Zaporizhia ($4,200) regions, the most expensive — in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast ($7,350), Lviv ($6,500), and Volyn ($6,500) ) regions.

The total cost of cars was also the highest in the capital and Kyiv region ($462 million), Lviv ($175 million), and Dnipropetrovsk ($144 million) regions, the lowest — in Kherson ($4.7 million), Luhansk ($16 million), and Donetsk ($25 million) ).

The average price of cars sold on the Internet in April 2023 was $5,600. This is 5.7% more than in March 2023. Thus, used cars continue to rise in price in Ukraine.

Among the 15 most popular models in April, in percentage terms, the price increased the most in BMW 5 Series (+10.1%), BMW 3 Series (+9.1%) and VAZ 2101 (+4.9%), the least — in Skoda Octavia ( +0.7%), Opel Astra (+2%) and Daewoo Lanos (+2.2%). The price of VAZ 2106 has not changed at all.
