Sales of truck tractors continue to decline. Results of April

Experts of the Institute of Auto Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine during April and identified the top models in three segments of truck tractors: import of used vehicles, domestic resale and purchase of new ones.

Dynamics of the truck tractor market

After the fall in sales of semi-trailer trucks, which lasted from October 2022 to January-2023, stabilization in February, growth in March, in April this segment of the market again "sought": Ukrainians purchased 2.9 thousand new and used semi-trailer trucks. This is 314.3% more than in the same period last year in 2022 and 21.6% less than in February 2023.

Majority( 48.2% ) of all tractors were brought in used from abroad (1.4 thousand units), but their share is decreasing, and the April figure is the lowest in the last 12 months.

1.3 thousand units were purchased on the domestic market, which is 45.4% of the total number.

6.4% of truck tractors were purchased new, which in quantitative terms equals 184 units.

The largest number of truck tractors were registered in Odesa (326), Lviv (254), and Kyiv (243) regions, as well as in the city of Kyiv (233) and Rivne region (197).

The most popular tractors on the domestic market

DAF XF remains the most popular semi-trailer truck on the domestic market in April — 359 units of such models were sold, which traditionally more than doubles the figures of the nearest competitor   — Renault Magnum (171 units).

The third step was taken by MAN TGX (167 units), and the fourth by Volvo FH (147 units). Rounding out the top five is Renault Premium (118 units).

In April, the MAN TGX (425 units) turned out to be the most popular for "enslavement" from abroad. The second place is DAF XF (322 units), and the third place is Volvo FH (173 units).

The fourth step was taken by Mercedes-Benz Actros (86 units), and the fifth place by Scania R-Series (84 units).

In April, the new MAN TGX tractor unit (49 units) became the first in terms of sales. The second step was taken by Mercedes-Benz Actros (39 units), and the third by Volvo FH (35 units).

The fourth place was taken by Scania R-Series (21 units), and the fifth place by DAF XF (10 units).
