What is made in Ukraine today? Buses, trucks, cars and semi-trailers
The automotive industry in Ukraine is not going through the best of times today. There is no full-cycle car production in Ukraine today, and the Ukrainian VIN code and the "Made in Ukraine" marking are given to vehicles assembled in Ukraine from machine kits or converted from chassis imported from abroad. Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research determined which "Ukrainian" models of cars, LCVs, trucks, cars and semi-trailers were most often registered for the first time in the 1st quarter of 2023.
In the first quarter of 2023, Ukrainians for the first time registered 1,975 new vehicles that were assembled or converted in Ukraine from imported machine sets or chassis. Trucks (LCVs and weighing more than 3.5 tons in total) accounted for 22.1% (437 units). Another 13.5 % fell to buses (267 units), and the remaining 6.2% was occupied by semi-trailers (122 units).
From March 2022 to March 2023, inclusive , 6,900 "Ukrainian" vehicles received license plates for the first time, and December 2022 was the most active: 1,138 registration transactions were recorded then.

Most of the cars were specialized ( 63.9%, 1,261 units), another 5.3% (105 units) were special, that is, most "Ukrainian" cars are manufactured for special needs. During the first quarter of 2023, only 30.9% (609 units) of vehicles intended for general, civilian use were found.
