Sales of "almost new" cars remain stable. Top models of January

The segment of "almost new" passenger cars, i.e. cars up to 3 years old, began to develop actively in May 2022. The number of sales is catching up with the indicators of new cars, and almost 300 used cars from abroad in January were less than one year old, that is, in a condition close to new. Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of registrations and identified the top 15 models aged up to three years in the import of used cars and domestic resale of cars.

Dynamics of the car market under 3 years old

In January, Ukrainians bought 2,700 cars up to 3 years old. This is 68.8% more than in January 2022 and -10% less than in December 2022.

More than half ( 66.6%, 1,828 units) were purchased on the domestic market, the remaining 33.4% (918 units) were brought used from abroad.

"Almost new" passenger cars were most actively bought in Kyiv (734 units) and Kyiv region (338 units). Dnipropetrovsk (285), Lviv (280) and Odesa (235) oblasts also entered the top five.

TOP "almost new" cars on the domestic market

The most popular "almost new" passenger car on the domestic market in January 2023 remains the Toyota RAV-4. 92 such units were purchased in a month. The second place was taken by Volkswagen ID.4 (88 units), which is confidently moving up the ranking. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (82 units) was placed on the third step.

The fourth step was taken by Toyota Camry (68 units), and the fifth — KIA Sportage (50 units).

TOP imported used cars up to 3 years old

According to the results of January 2023, the electric Volkswagen ID.4 (162 units) became the leader of "freshly driven" cars under 3 years old. This model is imported both from the European Union and from China.

In second place was the electric Honda M-NV (69 units), and in third place — Tesla Model Y (67 units).

The fourth place was taken by the Tesla Model 3 (59 units), and the fifth place by the Nissan Leaf (23 units).

Thus, the first five most popular "almost new" cars from abroad in January were occupied by electric cars. In total, as many as nine models from the top 15 have electric motors. This demand is connected, first of all, with "zero" customs clearance of such cars. Compared to classic gasoline or diesel cars, you can save from 30% of the cost.

Among the 918 used cars imported during January, 298 were manufactured in 2022. That is, these are cars that could be in a condition close to new.
