Bus sales are the smallest segment on the Ukrainian car market. Every month, Ukrainians buy only a few hundred of these vehicles. Despite the fact that in 2022 the market volume decreased by almost 40%, activity in bus sales recovered and stabilized at the beginning of summer. Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute determined in which areas buses are most often bought and the top 25 models in the domestic market, among "freshly driven" and new ones.
Bus market dynamics
In December, Ukrainians bought 609 new and used carsbuses This is −38.8% less than in December 2021 and 10.3% more than in November 2022.
In total, during 2022, Ukrainians purchased 6,000 buses. This is 40.9% less than in 2021.
The majority of buses ( 71.1%, 4.3 thousand) in 2022 were purchased on the domestic market. Another 18.4% (1.1 thousand) were brought used from abroad. Only 10.5% (634) of the buses were bought new. Of this number, the majority (475 units) were manufactured or converted by Ukrainian enterprises.
Interestingly, the bus market recovered and stabilized back in June: since then, Ukrainians have been buying about 600 vehicles of this category every month.
In which regions are the most bought buses
In 2022, the most new and used trucks were registered in the Kyiv region (647 units), which accounted for 10.7% of the total number. Another 519 vehicles of this category ( 8.6% ) were registered in the Lviv region.
The third place in the rating was taken by the city of Kyiv (502 units, 8.3%). On the fourth step was the Odesa region (484 units, 8%), and Dnipropetrovsk region (482 units, 8%) closes the top five.

TOP of the most popular buses in the domestic market
The most popular bus on the domestic market in 2022 was the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (970 units). Most of these vehicles were converted from trucks.
Mercedes-Benz T1/T2 family buses (626 units) took second place. These models have not been produced since the mid-90s, and most of them also left the factory in trucks.
On the third step is one of the most popular buses of Ukrainian production — BAZ A079 "Etalon" (412 units).
The fourth position was taken by another popular Ukrainian bus — Bohdan/Ataman A-092 (280 units).
Rounding out the top five is the Iveco Daily (209 units).

The average age of buses in the domestic market is 18.6 years.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (251 units) became the leader of "freshly driven" buses according to the results of 2022. The tourist Van Hool T9 was in second place (107 units), and the Setra 400-Series (50 units) was in third place.
Fourth place was taken by Mercedes-Benz Tourismo (40 units), and fifth place by Volkswagen Crafter (39 units).

The Ukrainian Bohdan/Ataman A-093 (139 units) took the first place among new buses in 2022. In second place was another model of the Ukrainian brand — BAZ A081 "Etalon" (114 units), and in third place — Bohdan/Ataman A-092 (81 units), also manufactured in Ukraine.
Ford Transit (46 units) and the product of the Zaporizhzhia Automobile Plant ZAZ A08 (39 units) also entered the top five.
