Sales of semi-trailers are inextricably linked with the market of semi-trailer trucks: in both segments, both the dynamics and quantitative indicators coincide to a certain extent. During 2022, the semi-trailer market reached an all-time high in September, and compared to 2021, it grew by 29.7%. Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute identified the most active areas and the most popular brands in the domestic market, among "freshly driven" and new semi-trailers.
Dynamics of the semi-trailer market
In December, Ukrainians bought 3,500 new and used carssemi-trailers This is 20.5% more than in December 2021 and 11% less than in November 2022.
In total, during 2022, Ukrainians purchased 35,700 tractor units. This is 29.7% more than in 2021.
The majority of semi-trailers ( 46.6%, 16.6 thousand) in 2022 were brought used from abroad. 45% (16.1 thousand) of semi-trailers were purchased on the domestic market, and only 8.4% (3 thousand) were bought new. Of this quantity , 502 pcs. produced by a Ukrainian enterprise.
The peak of sales of semi-trailers, as well as semi-trailers, fell on September: 4.5 thousand cars were sold then. In general, the semi-trailer market is related to the sales of semi-trailers and to a large extent repeats its dynamics. Since October, after the carriers met the increased demand due to the shortage of rolling stock, a gradual decline in sales began, which continues for the third month in a row.
In which regions are the most bought semi-trailers
In 2022, the largest number of new and used semi-trailers were registered in the Lviv region (3.4 thousand), which accounted for 9.7% of the total number. In the Odesa region, another 3,300 cars of this category were registered ( 9.2% ).
The third place in the rating was taken by the Kyiv region (2.8 thousand, 7.8%). Vinnytsia Oblast (2.4 thousand, 6.8%) was on the fourth step, while Zakarpattia Oblast rounded out the top five (2.3 thousand, 6.4%).
The fewest semi-trailers were registered in Luhansk (70 units), Kherson (80 units) and Donetsk (93 units) regions.

Dump trucks became the most popular type of semi-trailer on the domestic market in 2022. Almost 4,000 of them were purchased. Platforms (2.8 thousand) and awning platforms (2.4 thousand) were also popular.

The German Schmitz turned out to be the most popular tractor unit on the domestic market in 2022. In second and third place are also German brands, Koegel (1.8 thousand) and Krone (1.7 thousand).
Austrian Schwarzmuller (858 units) took the fourth place, and Polish Bodex (647 units) rounds out the top five.

The fourth step was taken by the products of the Ukrainian manufacturer — the TAD brand (191 units). The top five is rounded off by the Turkish tank manufacturer Ali Riza Usta (169 units).
