Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics in September and identified the top hybrid models in three segments: used import, domestic resale, and new car purchases.
Dynamics of the hybrid car market
In September, Ukrainians bought 1,700 hybrid cars. This is -31.8% less than in the same period last year and -9.9% less than in August 2022.
More than half ( 50.4%, 850 pcs.) were purchased on the domestic market, this is the maximum indicator for the last 12 months. Another 24.9% (431 units) were brought used from abroad. The share of imported used hybrid cars has been decreasing for the third month in a row, while domestic resales are increasing. This is a general trend in all market segments after the cancellation of the so-called zero customs clearance. 24.7% (417 cars) were purchased new.
The most popular hybrids on the domestic market
The leader in sales of hybrid cars in the domestic market was Toyota, which took 34.6% of the market segment (294 deals). With a significant margin, Lexus cars came in second place ( 10.5%, 89 deals), and Ford took third place ( 10.2%, 87 deals).
Among the models, Ukrainians most often chose used hybrid Toyota RAV-4 (106 units). In second place was another model of this brand — Toyota Prius (60 units). The third step was taken by Ford Fusion (237 pcs.)
Toyota Camry (55 units) and Chevrolet Volt (46 units) also entered the top five.

The most popular used hybrids brought from abroad
In September, Ukrainians most often brought hybrid Toyotas from abroad ( 28.5%, 120 units). Ford ( 22.1%, 93 units) and Lexus ( 10.5%, 44 units) were also popular among the "freshly driven".
The fourth place with a share of 8.1% was taken by Honda (34 units), and the fifth place by Hyundai ( 5.9%, 25 units).
Ford Fusion (47 units) became the bestseller of imported hybrids from abroad. The second place was taken by the hybrid Ford C-Max (37 units), and the third place by the Toyota Prius (37 units).
The fourth place was taken by the Toyota RAV-4 (28 units), the Hyundai Sonata (23 units) rounds out the top five.

The most popular new hybrids
Toyota became the leader in sales of new hybrid cars. Cars of this brand were chosen in 37.2% of cases (155 units). The Audi brand took second place with a share of 22.5% (94 units).
Mercedes-Benz was in third place ( 21.8%, 91 units), and Volvo took fourth place ( 6.7%, 28 units). The Land Rover brand was bought in 3.6% of cases (15 units), which made it possible to take the fifth place in the rating.
Toyota RAV-4 (92 units) became the first in the rating of new hybrid passenger cars, as well as among domestic resales. The second place was taken by Mercedes-Benz GLE-Classe (68 units). Third place was won by Toyota Camry (50 units).
The fourth and fifth steps of the rating were taken by Audi: Q8 (28 units) and Q7 (25 units), respectively.
