Experts from the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2025 and identified the most popular models in three segments of tractor units: used imports, domestic resales, and new purchases.
Tractor unit market dynamics
During the first three months of 2025, Ukrainians purchased a total of 3,420,000 new and used tractor units. This figure is 53% lower compared to the results of the same period in 2024.
The structure of this segment is as follows: the share of domestic resales was 55.8% (1,908 units), imports of used tractor units — 36.4% (1,246 units).The total share of "trucks" with mileage was 92.2%.
7.8% of tractor units were purchased new, which in quantitative terms is equal to 266 units of such equipment.
By individual subsegments, the dynamics of the tractor unit market in Q1-2025 compared to Q1-2024 looks like this:
- Domestic resales: −52.4%
- Imports of used cars: −56.8%
- New imports: −32.8%
The most popular tractors on the domestic market
The most popular tractor unit on the domestic market in Ukraine is the DAF XF. 555 sales contracts for this model were concluded.
The second place in terms of quantity is occupied by MAN TGX, 314 units, the third by Volvo FH, 191 units.
The most popular used tractor units imported from abroad
In the first quarter of this year, the DAF XF took the lead among the “customized” tractors, which replenished our fleet with 363 units. In second place is the MAN TGX, whose total number of first registrations is 339. In third place is the Volvo FH with a result of 139 trucks.

The most popular new tractor units
Among the new models of tractor units, Ukrainian carriers most often purchased Scania R-Series —This tractor was sold in a quantity of 71 units.
Second place in this category was taken by the Volvo FH with a total of 40 new vehicles. Third place went to the MAN TGX with a total of 31 tractor units.
Since the summer of last year, the tractor segment has seen a steady decline in volumes in all subsegments — none of them has a positive dynamics. The import of such vehicles has suffered the most — the pace of replenishing the fleet with essentially strategic vehicles for the economy has dropped to a record low. There has been little progress in replenishing the fleet with new trucks. At the same time, taking into account the average age of semi-trailers on the domestic market, which is 16.5 years, and the average age of imported used tractors (10 years), given the trends just mentioned, one should prepare for a further decrease in the average age of tractors in Ukraine.
