The AUTO1 Group price index shows the monthly price change for used cars in Europe. The index is developed on the basis of the companyʼs database, which contains records of about 3.6 million auto sales transactions. In this way, you can see how the average price of cars changes. The starting point is January 2015 with a base value of 100, against which all further comparisons take place. According to the results of last month, prices in the EU stabilized and even decreased somewhat.
In July 2023, wholesale prices for used cars in Europe stabilized and even decreased somewhat, according to the AUTO1 Group price index. In comparison with June, prices became lower by 2.6% : 148.2 against 152.2.
The most expensive cars with mileage in Europe were a year ago — in July 2022. At that time , the AUTO1 Group price index was a record high for the entire monitoring period, at the level of 171.6. Used car prices in July 2023 were at their lowest in 12 months, down 13.6% from July 2022, but still 25.6% higher than before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in July 2019 .
In general, the AUTO1 Group Price Index data show that the average prices for cars with mileage in Europe have stabilized and have not changed significantly since the beginning of the year for seven consecutive months. If we compare January and July, they slightly decreased by 0.7%.
