What trucks were bought in April? Market analytics

Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in March and identified the top models in three segments of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons (except tractor-trailers): used import, domestic resale and purchase of new cars, including those converted in Ukraine .

Truck market dynamics

In April, Ukrainians purchased 2,100 trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons (excluding tractors). This is 200% more than in the same period last year and 4.5% less than in March 2023.

Most of the trucks in April were purchased on the domestic market: 85.2% (1.8 thousand units). Used 7.7% of trucks (159 units) were brought from abroad.

Even fewer new trucks were purchased: 37 imported and 112 converted in Ukraine (149 units in total, 7.2% ).

The most popular trucks in the domestic market

In April, dump trucks (1,270 units), vans (939 units) and flatbed trucks (497 units) were most in demand on the domestic market. Also actively bought on-board awning trucks (266 pcs.) and refrigerator vans (192 pcs.).

For many months in a row, trucks based on Mercedes-Benz T1/T2 remain the leader of domestic resales. In April, an agreement was reached regarding these110 purchase and sale agreements. Despite the fact that these models were discontinued more than 20 years ago, Ukrainians actively buy them, primarily due to the difficult economic situation and the inability to purchase a newer car.

In second place is the popular Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (85 deals), which is also used as a platform for various cargo superstructures.

The third place was taken by the Mercedes-Benz Atego (82 deals), and the fourth place by the KamAZ 5320 (72 deals).

It is noteworthy that 7 of the 15 most popular trucks in April were models of the Russian-Soviet automobile industry. At the same time, the average age of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons sold on the domestic market in April 2023 was 23.4 years.

The most popular used trucks brought from abroad

Vans with hydroboards (69 units), vans (51 units) and container trucks (44 units) were most often brought from abroad in April. Refrigerated vans (23 units) and refrigerated vans with hydroboards (23 units) were also popular. pc.).

Used Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is back on   the place of the leader in the segment of imported used trucks with a total weight of more than 3.5 tons — 30 of them were brought. Instead, Mercedes-Benz Atego (26 units) fell to second place in the rating.

The third place was taken by MAN TGL (21 units), and Iveco Daily (14 units) rounds out the top five.

The most popular new trucks

Among new imported cars, cargo vans (53 units), dump trucks (17 units) and container trucks (15 units) registered the most in April. Also, for the first time, 9 imported mobile cranes and 5 assortment trucks with a manipulator crane received license plates.

The most popular brands were Renault (16 units), Volkswagen (7 units) and Fiat (3 units).

Among the trucks over 3.5 tons converted in Ukraine, the most popular in April were vans (120 units), vans with hydroboards (47 units) and dump trucks (28 units). Car lifts (27 pcs.) and garbage trucks (21 pcs.) were also popular.

The leaders were the brands Reform (31 units), Intercargo Truck (16 units) and JSC (14 units).
