Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in August and identified the most popular models in three segments of buses: used import, domestic resale, and new purchase.
Bus market dynamics
In August 2024, Ukrainian carriers purchased 598 new and used buses. This is 42.4% less than in the same period last year, and 3.7% less than in July 2024. The peak of trading in the bus segment fell in the middle of summer last year, then the demand for this type of passenger transport decreased, after which there was a slight increase in trading in February of this year, which at the beginning of spring changed to a decrease in volumes, which was interrupted only in May, probably due to " rewriting" of transport, and then everything came to record low values recorded this summer.
By individual sub-segments, the dynamics of bus sales is as follows (comparing last month to the previous month, MM, and last month to the same month last year, YY):
- Domestic resales: -09% MM, -41% YY
- Used imports: +35% MM, −41% YY
- New imports: -59% MM, +50% YY
- Made in Ukraine: +108% MM, -60% YY
Most of the buses were bought on the domestic market : 464 units., which accounted for 77.6% of the total.
11.5% of used buses, or 69 units, were brought from abroad.
Also last month, 65 new buses were registered for the first time: 50 of them were manufactured or converted in Ukraine ( 8.4% ), the remaining 15 (2.5%) came from abroad.
The most popular buses in the domestic market
Buses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter remain the leader in domestic resales, 149 of which were bought. A significant part of these vehicles was converted into passenger buses from trucks at one time.
In second place is BAZ "Etalon" A079with a result of 45 machines. On the third — Volkswagen LT(24 pcs.).

The most popular used buses brought from abroad
In August , Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based buses took the lead in this sub-segment, 11 of them arrived. In second place is the Volkswagen Crafter (6 pcs.).
The third place goes to the two-story "tourist" Van Hool Astromega (6 pcs.).

The most popular new buses
Bohdan/Ataman A-093, which was submitted for first registration in the amount of 21 units, won first place in the sub-segment of new cars for passenger transportation. For the first time, BAZ A081 Etalon buses received new license plates and SPR buses.
The second place in terms of the number of first registrations in Ford Transit (13 pcs.), the third place was taken by Bohdan/Ataman A-093 (4 pcs.).
